Working with clients we develop a tailored training and support programme to build their staff's capacity and skills in planning behaviour change programmes:
In 2008 The NSMC regional programme undertook a review and needs analysis of social marketing within PCT’s in England. The review recommended that a tailored training programme for NHS staff be developed which could tailor for different levels and which would be supported by project advice from the regional team.
The programme ran for 18 months delivering over 160 courses and training 3,500 delegates. The effects of the training programme are still in existence with the rapid increase of social marketing projects being developed and entries to the HSJ social marketing award.
In 2010 NHS Health Scotland signed an agreement with the Scottish Government to provide support and development opportunities for the 10 Health Boards in Scotland.
As part of this programme they commissioned The NSMC to develop a training programme to introduce the principles of social marketing. This work built on the lessons learnt from our English regional training programme and the training and support package we had developed with NHS Tayside which included the development of a Scottish Planning Guide and toolkit.
The NSMC developed and delivered seven training days across Scotland to eight Health Boards, tailoring the course each time to meet the individual's board’s different needs. In addition we provided project advice to four local social marketing projects, writing them up as examples of good practice for others to learn from.
