Welcome to the NSM Centre Website

Here you will find information on the work of the National Social Marketing Centre (NSM Centre), based at the National Consumer Council (NCC). In particular it covers the independent national review we were commissioned by Government to undertake, as a 'Choosing Health' White Paper commitment.

We are in the continuing process of further developing this website as a social marketing resource and would very much welcome your feedback on ways that it might be improved and enhanced.

NSM Centre 'Geared for Action'

On Monday 3rd March Otto Thoresen published the final report of his review of Generic Financial Advice. The report sets out a high-level blueprint for a national money guidance service to provide the people of the UK with the knowledge, understanding and confidence to make better decisions about money issues.

As part of the Thoresen Review, the Treasury commissioned the National Social Marketing Centre to undertake a review on engagement, demand management and branding for such a service. (Read on...)

Case Study Database

Our new Case Study Database is now online. There are currently ten social marketing case studies available and we will be adding many more over the next few weeks.

If you are working on a behavioural intervention based on social marketing principles, then please consider contributing to the database - we want to hear about your work!

This is a testing phase for this new resource and we would also welcome any feedback from you on how we might improve the system. Let us know what worked well (or not so well!), and we will endeavour to make refinements in order to make it more useful to you.

Site Update

We now have a dedicated 'News and Events' page which we will keep updated with useful information on developments at the NSM centre, as well as news and interesting links on social marketing in general. If you have something that you'd like us to add to this resource, send an email to nsmc@ncc.org.uk.
